Upward Basketball Coaches, Referees and Support Staff
Youth basketball coaches and referees who love basketball and kids, and other helpers who want to support this family outreach ministry.
We’re looking for volunteers to be ambassadors for Christ while we support families in our community and provide the best possible sports experience.
What to Expect
Head Coach: Impact the lives of young athletes by volunteering as a head coach! We will be there to support you along the way with all the resources you will need to lead your team.
Time Commitment: 3 hours a week (1 hour practice; 1 hour game; 1 hour prep time)
Assistant Coach: Make a difference by helping the head coach lead the team.
Time Commitment: 2 hours a week (1 hour practice; 1 hour game)
Referee: Do you have a passion for the sport and a working knowledge of the rules of the game? We need your help to teach the game by enforcing the rules.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a week (some or all Saturday game days)
Game Day Support: Make a difference on game days by volunteering to run the clock, keep score, introduce players, help with concessions, greet participants, setup, etc.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a week (some or all Saturday game days)
Practice Night Host: Serve as a connection point to the church for parents and participants on a team or a certain practice night.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week (one evening per week)
Evaluations Volunteer: The first impression a family has of our Upward Basketball league will be at evaluations. Help make sure our league provides the most exciting and welcoming experience possible. Volunteer to help our league evaluations by running stations, welcoming parents and athletes, and providing directions around the facility.
Time Commitment: 1-3 hours (one evening or one Saturday morning in early November)
Prayer Partner: We need people who will be committed to praying each week for our season to change lives.
Advertising: Help us reach more young athletes and families by making our league known to those within our community. We will provide all the resources you will need.
All of these opportunities require a love for children and families. Church membership and compliance with our Child Abuse Prevention Policy (CAPP) must be met annually for most Upward Basketball ministry roles. This will be discussed when you are contacted.
